This is a lovely Georgian-George III early 19th-century (c.1800) Sheffield sterling silver & mother of pearl folding knife.
Genuine mother of pearl panels on both sides, each side embellished with a row of flower headed pins (please see last image)
It has a reeded spine, and reeded bolsters at both ends.
The silver blade top edge with Bright-cut engraved decoration.
The knife is free from personal inscriptions or monograms.
A superb genuine circa 220 year old George III antique silver penknife.
HALLMARKS: Sheffield, STERLING fineness 92.5%. MAKER IT
DIMENSION: Length : CLOSED 7.9cm (3"). OPEN 14cm (5 1/2") approx.
CONDITION: Good condition, one side of the panel has a hairline crack. The hinge is strong, snaps open and closed, no wobble. The silver blade has a good thickness to it and not flimsy.
