This is a rare 1942 Anglo Indian Royal Air Force interest, vintage teak hard wood cigarette box.
The body with densely hand carved Kashmiri leaf patterns. A large quatrefoil filled with flower heads. In the centre, a sunken area delicately hollowed out, creating a high relief resembling a Hindu temple dome.
The internal has a carved RAF emblem and motto PER ARDUA AD ASTRA. Below, SRINAGAR KASHMIR 1942.
A removable partition and green velvet lining to the base.
A beautiful Kashmiri box with exquisite details throughout.
DIMENSION: 21cm x 12cm (8 1/4" X 4 3/4"). Height 5.5cm (2 1/8") approx.
