This is a decent size Georgian-George III early 19th-century (c1800) Sheffield sterling silver & mother of pearl folding knife.
Genuine mother of pearl panels on both sides, with an inscribed cartouche.
The blade does not give a snap sound, and leaves a small gap when closed.
The blade still has a good thickness of silver - not flimsy. Nice bright-cut engraved patterns to the blade top edge.
HALLMARKS: Sheffield, STERLING fineness 92.5%. Maker's mark not struck, this is common for early/pre-1820 George III penknives.
DIMENSION: Length : CLOSED 7.5cm (3"). OPEN 13.9cm (5 1/2") approx.
CONDITION: No splits to the mother of pearl panels except some nibble around the edges.
