This is an early 20th-century (c1910) 6 multi-tool penknife, comprises 2 blades, a 2-prong fork, a button hook, a nail file and a long pin.
Genuine mother of pearl panels.
Original high carbon antique steel. The main blade stamped "G. GILE & SONS"
Nickel silver pins. Brass liners.
Free from personal inscriptions or monograms.
Carbon steel, which unlike stainless steel, can be ground to a very sharp cutting edge. Early/antique folding knives were made using carbon steel.
DIMENSION: Length : CLOSED 7.8cm (3 1/8"). OPEN with blades extended 15.8cm (6 1/4"). approx.
Longest blade measures 4.5cm (1 3/4").
CONDITION: All tools working but the small blade extends beyond 180° and protrudes when closed. The rest of the tools and blade have strong snap and without wobble. Slight nibble to the edge of the mother of pearl panel.
