The Straits silver is a fusion of the Malay and Chinese cultures. This belt buckle is richly decorated with repousse flowers and animals, with a pair of phoenixes on the top and a pair of dragons on the bottom.
There are two silver marks on the reverse. the bottom mark '足银' translates as 'pure silver', the top mark is the artisan's chop mark.
The silver has been tested and shows silver purity of at least 90%.
The belt buckle is in excellent condition, the silver remains thick gauge and heavy.
