Regency Silver



A pair of 1900 Sheffield sterling silver antique candlesticks by John & William Deakin.

They are in the magnificent Adam Style, the heavily ornamented neoclassical column decorated with four raised rams heads at the top, leaf scrolls and ribbon swags to the body. 

The candle holders are in the form of an urn, embellished with ribbon swags and acanthus leaves.

They have original removable sterling sconces, they are decorated with beaded rim matching the beaded border on the base. 

The candlesticks are free of any personal inscriptions or crests.

All elements are fully hallmarked, with matched hallmarks on the pair of sconces.

A superb pair of genuine 117 year old English antique silver candlesticks.

DATE: 1900

DIMENSION: Height: 25.5cm (10").  Base 11cm x 11cm (4 1/4" x 4 1/4") 

WEIGHT: 1032g combined (loaded)

CONDITION: Both are in good condition with some age related wear. The bases have some wear and dents. Replacement green wool pads to the bases. The columns and the urn holders are in excellent condition without splits or holes. The silver has not been over polished and so it remains thick gauge and the decorations crisp and clear. As with all antique silver candlesticks they are loaded for stability.
