MAGNIFICENT VICTORIAN SILVER ANTIQUE HIP FLASK

A mid 19th-century (1868) Victorian sterling silver hip flask by Robert Thornton.

Oval shape, with an original chained lip top.

It has beautiful all over hand chased decorations to the front and back.

A central monogram which is original to the period, having matching style and engravings to the rest of the pattern.

It is hallmarked on the front and the back of the flask, as well as on the lid top.

A top quality genuine 148 year old Victorian English silver hip flask.


HALLMARKS: Birmingham, STERLING fineness 92.5%.  MAKER Robert Thornton

DATE: 1868

DIMENSION: 11.5cm (4 1/2") high x 6.8cm (2 3/4") wide.  Thickness: 2.1cm (7/8") approx.

WEIGHT: 93g
