ORNATE ANTIQUE SILVER & GLASS BOX

A top quality 19th-century (1877) sterling silver lidded rectangular English table vanity/storage box.

The base has a star burst cut glass pattern.

It has a pull off lid.

The lid top densely decorated with beautiful scrolling foliage and flowers.

It has a circular vacant cartouche that is unengraved, with no previous erasures.

Fully hallmarked on the underside of the lid.

A superb early example, genuine 139 year old Victorian antique box.

 

HALLMARKS: London, STERLING fineness 92.5% MAKER Thomas Whitehouse

DATE: 1877

DIMENSION: 9cm x 5.7cm (3 1/2" x 2 1/4"). Height: 3.8cm (1 1/2") approx.

WEIGHT: 185g all in
