RARE INDO-PERSIAN SILVER BOWL

Early 20th-century Indo-Persian solid sterling silver antique bowl with zodiac animals.

The body heavily ornamented with foliage and animals, the scene is formed with two rows of stylised lotus flowers, the top row with unopened lotus buds and the bottom row decorated with formal arrangement of lotus flowers in full bloom in plan view. These are interspersed with twelve different animals of the Oriental astrological symbols. All of these set against a fine matte background.

The two cartouches on the base. One translated as 'original silver' and the other possibly the chop mark of the maker/artisan.

Hand chased and decorated throughout. The motifs are crisp and finely detailed.

The silver has been tested, and guaranteed to be sterling grade silver 92.5% purity or above.

A beautiful antique silver Indo-Persian bowl.
