Unusual Victorian double lidded silver box

A rare late 19th-century (1896) sterling silver oblong box with two hinged lids for snuff/travelling inkwell?

Made by the luxury maker "A. Barrett & Sons, 63 and 64 Piccadilly - silversmiths and jewellers who specialised in high-class novelties" (1914 Whitakers Red Book)

Gilt interior. 

Both of the lids are fully hallmarked. They are also stamped with the maker's logo.

The glass container has a star burst pattern on the base.

An exceptional piece.

HALLMARKS: London. STERLING fineness 92.5%. MAKER Andrew Barrett & Sons

DIMENSION: 8.2cm x 4.3cm.  Height: 4cm  (approx.)

WEIGHT: 194g (approx.)

CONDITION: The snuff box is in good working condition except a few dents on the outer lid.  No damage to the glass container. Gilding is still strong. Both the lids close flush and tight. No repair or alteration.
