RARE GEORGE II (1738) SILVER SALT

A very fine early 18th-century sterling silver antique cauldron salt.

Fully hallmarked on the base for London 1738.

It has never been engraved with any personal inscriptions or crest. No previous erasure.

No sign of any of the leg pushing into the base (common with this type of salt).

A high quality piece with little sign of wear, it feels robust having thick gauge wall, rim and feet. It is still retaining a good weight, weighing 66.4g.


HALLMARKS: London, STERLING fineness 92.5%.  MAKER D.M
