MAGNIFICENT PAIR OF GEORGE III ROCOCO STERLING SILVER CANDLESTICKS


A pair of early 19th-century (1813) George III Sheffield sterling hallmarked antique silver candlesticks by John Roberts & Co.

Baluster form with reeded columns, decorated with shells, scrolls, flowers and acanthus leaves.

They have matched and detachable sterling sconces, with similar gadrooned borders, each with matching hallmarks to the candlesticks.

Turned wood bases.

They are free of any personal monograms or crests.

All parts fully hallmarked with matching marks.

A pair of beautiful, genuine 204 year old George III silver candlesticks.


HALLMARKS: Sheffield, STERLING fineness 92.5%  MAKER John Roberts & Co.

DATE: 1813

DIMENSION: Height: 28.5cm (11 1/4").  Base diameter: 14.5cm (5 3/4") approx. 

WEIGHT: 1450g combined (loaded)

CONDITION: Good condition with minor age related wear and light dents. Some high points rubbed through, small holes, common with this style and period. They both stand straight without leaning. As with all antique silver candlesticks they are loaded for stability. No solder repairs.
