A very rare George III sterling silver pedestal pounce pot with unusual high narrow nozzle lid

Of circular 'urn' form, on a collet spreading foot. Late 18th-century (1798).

High domed lid with narrow nozzle.

The lid edge is elegantly concealed, it closes flush with the pot rim.

The body is decorated with Bright-cut laurel & ribbon swags.

Both of the lid and pot are individually marked with matching hallmarks.

It has no monogram or crest, and without previous erasure.

HALLMARKS: London, STERLING fineness 92.5% MAKER II or IL

DATE: 1798

DIMENSION: Height: 10.5cm.  Diameter: 4.5cm (approx)


CONDITION: The pot is in good condition except some tiny splits on the lid's grilles. No repair.
